No gustó a muchos que Bob Dylan a finales de los setenta repentinamente se convirtiera al cristianismo. Muchos se rasgaron las vestiduras, el viejo icono contracultural en las garras de la iglesia romana. Otros se lo tomaron con más filosofía, como Leonard Cohen quién se declaró admirador de su trilogía cristiana entre 1979 y 1981, tranquilamente.
Trilogía musical cristiana compuesta por los álbumes “Slow Train Coming” – refinado y exitoso, con Mark Knopfler a bordo-, “Saved” y su sonido de rocoso gospel y “Shot of Love”, el tercero en discordia. Buenos discos, que no se hallan entre los más granado de la obra de su autor a pesar de contener un puñado de buenas canciones, entre otras, “Every Grain Of Sand”, “Heart Of Mine”, “The Groom’s Still Waiting at the Altar” (versionada por Rod Stewart), “Gotta Serve Somebody”, “In the Garden” y el simpático reggae de “Man Gave Names to All the Animals”, que versionaron Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash (abajo) y en nuestro país Javier Krahe, Joaquín Sabina y Alberto Pérez como parte de su satírica e inolvidable Mandrágora.
Lo que peor llevaban los detractores de Dylan de estos años es su vehemencia radical, sus sermones sobre los escenarios (la fe del converso). La religión estuvo siempre presente en Dylan, ya desde su debut en 1962, “A Bright New Name in Folk Music”, y a los largo de todos los años sesenta (“With God on our Side”), pero jamás la había tratado de ese modo casi furioso, con un látigo de siete puntas, apelando al Dios castigador. Apelando mucho más al Antiguo Testamento que al Nuevo.
A finales de agosto informábamos en PYD sobre la película con imágenes de conciertos de Dylan de esa época titulada ‘Trouble No More: A Musical Film’, que va a ser estrenada en la próxima edición del Festival de Cine de Nueva York que se celebrará del 28 de septiembre al 15 de octubre.
Ahora se ha conocido el tracklist de el nuevo volumen de las famosas “Bootleg Series” de Dylan, titulado del mismo modo “Trouble No More – The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 / 1979-1981”, que será publicada por Columbia Records y Legacy Recordings el 3 de noviembre. En concreto el tracklist (abajo) de la edición deluxe.
Un conjunto de 9 discos (8CDs / 1DVD) con 100 grabaciones de directo y estudio inéditas, incluyendo 14 canciones completamente inéditas. El set también incluye “Trouble No More: A Musical Film” en el DVD, el citado largometraje con imágenes nunca antes vistas de las giras de finales de los setenta, principios de los ochenta, de Dylan.
El nuevo “bootleg series” estará también disponible en formatos más secillos: 2CDs y 4 LPs configurados por los dos primeros discos de la caja deluxe.
