El productor histórico de David Bowie, el legendario Tony Visconti, ha manifestado que fue malinterpretado en unos comentarios que hizo recientemente sobre el artista de ojos bicolor.
Visconti no estaba hablando de un nuevo LP de Bowie, sino que en realidad se refería a su nueva canción ‘Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)’, que es el anzuelo para que se venda su nueva recopilación de éxitos ‘Nothing Has Changed’, que saldrá a la venta el próximo noviembre. Corren tiempos buenos, renovados, para Bowie, y él, sencillamente, quiere hacer caja.
Un malentendido que empezó cuando CNN publicó la siguiente cita de Visconti: “Va a haber otro álbum, definitivamente… pronto”. Ha tenido que ser el propio productor quien ha tenido que puntualizar a través de su Twitter, que hablaba del álbum recopilatorio y no de un álbum de canciones nuevas de Bowie.
“Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)”, es, por tanto, lo único nuevo de Bowie de momento. Una canción grabada a principios de año por Visconti, y el único corte nuevo de ese paquete, posiblemente innecesario, antológico del cantante inglés. Desde luego, la versión más interesante de ‘Nothing Has Changed’, va a ser la deluxe de 3 CDs que recupera la cara A del primerísimo single de Bowie (todavía Davy Jones) junto a The Kingbees en 1964, “Liza Jane”, algo rarísimo en un grandes éxitos de Bowie, al que siempre le han dado apuro esos cortes R&B primerizos. Sin embargo la cara B, “Louie Louie Go Home” no ha sido incluida, una ocasión perdida que los más fans lamentarán sin duda.
Aparte de eso y de la nueva canción, la recopilación no tiene muchos más alicientes. Además ‘Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)’ va a ser editada como single de 10 pulgadas el 17 de noviembre, encima con otra canción inédita, ”Tis A Pity She’s A Whore’, como cara B, lo que hace su adquisición mucho más atractiva que la del propio compilatorio madre.
