Un lote de los más variados “test pressings” – discos iniciales de prueba con su correspondiente etiqueta blanca- de artistas tan importantes y variados como Paul Weller, Arctic Monkeys, Cream, The Who, David Bowie, Coldplay, Specials, Ultravox y Thin Lizzy va a salir a subasta en octubre.
Los “test pressings” de vinilo se hacen para probar la calidad de sonido de un disco antes de enviarlo a fabricar. Solo se fabrican unos pocos y no suelen estar disponibles al público para su compra, de ahí que sean preciados objetos de coleccionismo, por su enorme rareza.
Una semana antes del “Día Nacional del Álbum”, que tendrá lugar el 12 de octubre, se realizará una subasta, el día 5, para vender los “test Pressings” de algunos álbumes recientes y de clásicos reeditados de una gran cantidad de grandes artistas. La subasta servirá para tecaudar fondos para la organización benéfica The BRIT Trust, que fomenta la educación y bienestar a través de la música.
