El martes por la noche tuvo lugar en el Foro Kia de Los Angeles el segundo concierto de homenaje a Taylor Hawkins, fallecido baterista de Foo Fighters, después del que se ofreció en su memoria en el estadio de Wembley el pasado 3 de septiembre.

‘The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert’ contó también con una gran cantidad de invitados especiales. Los miembros sobrevivientes de Soundgarden y Nirvana unieron fuerzas para interpretar dos clásicos de los primeros, ‘Black Hole’ y ‘The Day I Tried To Live’.
Durante el espectáculo, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic y Pat Smear formaron una nueva banda con Kim Thayil y Matt Cameron y Taylor Momsen de The Pretty Reckless.
El concierto tributo al músico prematuramente fallecido comenzó con una interpretación acústica de ‘Hallelujah’ por la hija de Grohl, Violet, con Alain Johannes. A eso le siguió una breve presentación de Foo Fighters, Travis Barker de Blink-182 y Joan Jett, quienes interpretaron dos de los mayores éxitos de los años 80 de la rockera ex Runaways.
Más adelante en el espectáculo, Miley Cyrus se asoció con Foo Fighters y Def Leppard para una versión expansiva del éxito de 1983 de Def Leppard, ‘Photograph’, mientras que Justin Hawkins subió al escenario con el grupo paralelo del difunto baterista de Foo Fighters, The Coattail Riders, para interpretar un set de cuatro de canciones.
Incluso los canadienses Rush se reunieron para la ocasión, Geddy Lee y Alex Lifeson interpretaron tres canciones con tres baterías distintos, Dave Grohl en “2112: Overture”, Chad Smith en “Working Man” y Danny Carey de Tool en “YYZ”, en lo que fue un homenaje a dos bateristas, tanto a Taylor Hawkins como al gran Neil Peart.
Por otra parte, Pink unió fuerzas a los Foo y Queen para interpretar una versión de la célebre ‘Somebody To Love’, la canción que el mismo Hawkins versionó a lo largo de los años.
Más tarde, y entre otros. le llegó el turno a Nancy Wilson de Heart con ‘Barracuda’ antes de unirse a Foo Fighters para cantar ‘The Pretender’ durante su actuación principal al final de la noche.
En la clausura del evento, Foo Fighters también dieron la bienvenida a Dave Chapelle al escenario para hacer una versión de ‘Creep’ de Radiohead, que previamente habían versionado con Hawkins en su gran concierto en el Madison Square Garden el verano pasado.
Taylor Hawkins recibió el segundo de sus multitudinarios conciertos, multitudinarios de público y de artistas y amigos invitados.
