La gala de los premios VO5 NME, celebrada anoche en el o2 Academy de Brixton, se saldó con un reparto de premios casi salomónico, hubo premios para casi todos, no hubo un claro ganador, en todo caso Pet Shop Boys con su flamante Goldlike Genius.
Chris Lowe y Neil Tennant fueron presentados en el escenario por Johnny Marr, a quien ya se le otorgó el mismo honor en 2013. Marr dijo:
“Los ganadores de este premio han cambiado la música pop durante tres décadas, con éxito tras éxito tras éxito. Ellos trajeron romance, glamour, estilo, arte de altos vuelos a esa cosa maravillosa que es la música pop”.
Por su parte, Tennant expresó: “Nuestra carrera ha sido una gran colaboración con productores, programadores, remezcladores y me gustaría agradecérselo a todos ellos, y aceptar esto en nombre de la música electrónica, la música de baile y la brillante música pop. Muchas gracias”.
La mejor banda británica Biffy Clyro, internacional Metallica. El mejor álbum el de Bastille…
Premios para Adele, MIA, Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, Skepta, The 1975, Slaves, hasta a Coldplay por su homenaje a Viola Beach… Repartidísimo.
Curiosamente, Oasis lograron lo que casi nadie (sólo Christine & The Queens): un par de premios, a la mejor película musical y a la mejor reedición por “Be Here Now”.
5 Seconds Of Summer fueron considerados como peor banda, y el premio de “supervillano del año” se lo birló Nigel Farage a Donald Trump. Queda en casa, allí tiene más fuerza el Brexit claro.
