The Style Council, la emblemática banda ochentera de Paul Weller, va a tener en la calle el 30 de octubre, “Long Hot Summers”, la antología definitiva de una travesía pop variada, audaz e inteligente.

Llegó un momento, 1982, en que a Weller se le quedaron pequeños The Jam, el inolvidable grupo que le dio la fama, y necesitaba crear una nueva entidad musical lejos de la electricidad del rock. Un grupo nuevo en el que poder dar rienda suelta a otros estilos como jazz, funk, música brasileña, electrónica, hip hop, o ¿por qué no? música clásica.
Para ellos se valió principalmente de un socio, el teclista Mick Talbot, ex Merton Parkas, ex Dexys Midnight Runners, ex Bureau. The Style Council se convirtió en una de las bandas pop más importantes de los 80.
Ahora, “Long Hot Summers” promete ser su antología definitiva con el respaldo y selección de temas del propio Weller. Aquí están los grandes éxitos: la canción titular, “Shout To The Top!”, “Speak Like A Child”, “Long Hot Summer”, “Walls Come Trumbling Down”, “You’re The Best Thing”, y una selección de canciones clave de sus elepés.
“Long Hot Summers” incluye dos temas inéditos: una demo de “My Ever Changing Moods” con cuerdas, y una versión extendida de “Dropping Bombs On The Whitehouse”.
Remasterizado en los estudios Abbey Road, “Long Hot Summers” contiene fotos raras, una introducción de Paul Weller, un nuevo ensayo de Lois Wilson y notas de portada del actor “super-fan” Martin Freeman. Saldrá en formato digital, doble CD y triple álbum de vinilo en dos versiones: vinilo negro y vinilo de colores.
La recopilación tiene como complemento un documental sobre la banda que estrenará Sky Arts también a finales de octubre, con entrevistas con todos los miembros clave, fans y colaboradores.
