, el afable pionero del rock'n'roll cuyo piano constante y fuerte , con su voz de  barítono fácil,  ha muerto.  Tenía 89 años.Ayudó a cambiar la música popular, incluso mientras honraba la gran y alegre tradición de Crescent City.

Mark Bone, investigador jefe de la oficina forense de Jefferson Parish, Louisiana , dijo que Domino murió ayer.

Al menos en apariencia, Domino no era Elvis Presley.  Pesaba más de91 kg, con una amplia sonrisa juvenil y un corte de pelo tan plano como la portada de un álbum.

Pero hay que recordar lo que decía el propio Elvis:

“Mucha gente parece pensar que yo inicié este negocio”Pero el rock ‘n' roll estaba aquí mucho tiempo antes de que yo apareciera. Nadie puede cantar esa música como gente de color. Reconozcámoslo: no puedo cantar como Fats Domino. Yo sé eso de sobra.”

Fats  Domino vendió más de 110 millones de discos, y sus singles , unos de 22 millones de ventas incluyeron, como las maravillosas  Blueberry Hill,” Is not that a shame” y otros  fantásticos stándars del rock'n'roll.
