Hoy se cumple un año de la muerte del soberbio , incisivo e inteligente productor y compositor británico Rupert Hine. Tenía 72 años, pero no se dieron detalles en el anuncio de la Academia de Creadores de Música Ivors, donde fue miembro de la junta.
Ruper llegço a producir más de cincuenta discos , trabajando entre otros con Tina Turner, Rush, Stevie Nicks, los Thompson Twins, Bob Geldof, Fixx, Suzanne Vega y Howard Jones, entre otros. Pero no me puedo olvidar de sus álbumes en solitario.
Hine había nacido el 21 de septiembre de 1947 en Wimbledon, Surrey, Inglaterra. Comenzó su carrera como miembro del dúo folklórico Rupert & David. Luego pasó a una carrera que incluyó tiempo con el grupo británico Quantum Jump. empezó a producir pero luego revivió su carrera de solista.
Sus obras aparecieron en bandas sonoras para las películas Better Off Dead, Golden Eye, The Fifth Element y The Addams Family, y varias series de televisión.
Howard Jones dijo e que Hine era :

El mayor triunfo de la carrera de producción de Hine fue su trabajo con Tina Turner en su álbum de 1984 Private Dancer, que marcó su primer gran éxito después de su divorcio de 1978 de Ike Turner. Hine produjo el gran tema Better Be Good to Me y también fue co guionista de la canción I Might Have Been Queen.
Más tarde trabajó con Turner en sus álbumes Break Every Rule (1986) y Foreign Affair (1989).
Hine produjo el cuarto álbum en solitario de Stevie Nicks, The Other Side of the Mirror de 1989, y el álbum de Rush de 1991 Roll the Bones y Presto de 1989.
También produjo dos álbumes benéficos notables, el álbum de 2008, Songs for Tibet – The Art of Peace, y su continuación en 2015, Songs for Tibet – The Art of Peace II.
