Sabido es que David Bowie ha basado muchas de sus fantasías musicales en libros y películas que le han influido de un modo apabullante, aplastante, que no se ha podido sustraer a su magnetismo.

Geoffrey Marsh, uno de los organizadores de la exposición “Bowie… Is”, ha calificado a David como “lector voraz”, incluso ha dicho que lee un libro al día.
La exposición se ha inaugurado recientemente en la Galería de Arte de Ontario, Canadá, y la sorpresa es que se ha revelado un listado de los 100 libros favoritos de Bowie de todos los tiempos.
Por supuesto la lista incluye “1984” de George Orwell, o “La Naranja Mecánica” de Anthony Burgess, libros de utopías negativas que influyeron decisivamente en su música de los primeros 70. Hay un poco de todo, algo de literatura beat, libros de música (incluyendo dos clásicos de Nik Cohn y Greil Marcus), algunas sorpresas humorísticas como Spike Milligan (del grupo humorístico-musical The Goons, junto a Peter Sellers), etc…
“David Bowie… Is” estará abierta hasta el 27 de noviembre.
Ayer se anunció la próxima edición ampliada de “The Next Day”, el primer disco de estudio de Bowie en 10 años.
